3-Introduction & Design of Combinational Circuit Sum-of-products (SOP) form: Products Sum-of- (POS) form Products Sum-of- (POS) or M(MAX TERM) Sum-of-products (SOP) or m(MIN TERM) Two variable K Map is drawn for a boolean expression consisting of two variables. The number of cells present in two variable K Map = 22 = 4 cells. So, for a boolean function consisting of two variables, we draw a 2 x 2 K Map. 2 VARIABLE K - MAP SUM OF PRODUCT (SOP) AND PRODUCT OF SUM (POS) FOR 2 VARIABLE K-MAP 3-VARIABLE K MAP Three variable K Map is drawn for a boolean expression consisting of three variables. The number of cells present in three variable K Map = 23 = 8 cells. So, for a boolean function consisting of three variables, we draw a 2 x 4 K Map. SUM OF PRODUCT (SOP) AND PRODUCT OF SUM (POS) FOR 3 VARIABLE K-MAP 4-VARIABLE K MAP A four variable K-map is used to simplify a complex Boolean expression in 4 variables. As we know, a four variable Boolean expression can have 24 = 16 possible combinations of variables. SUM OF PRODUCT (SOP) FOR 4 VARIABLE K-MAP PRODUCT OF SUM (POS) FOR 4 VARIABLE K-MAP
